IFTA Student Scholarships 2026
The 2026 World Family Therapy Congress in Scotland will be awarding two scholarships to attend the World Family Therapy Congress, March 26-28, 2026 in Bergen, Norway. One scholarship will be awarded by the International Journal of Systemic Therapy and another by the World Family Therapy Congress.
- Submit a proposal for a poster, 20-minute Brief, or a 45-minute Workshop for the 2025 Congress by October 31, 2025.
- Students must be the primary author of the Proposal.
- Once acceptance of the proposal has been received, the candidate must register for the Congress by November 30, 2025.
- The winners of the scholarships will be announced before December 31, 2025.

The Fatma Torun Reid Scholarship
1. Scholarship Objective and Criteria
Scholarship Objective:
The Fatma Torun Reid Scholarship aims to provide financial support to individuals from Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries, allowing them to attend and actively participate in the
International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) annual conference. This scholarship seeks to empower emerging professionals, students, and community leaders in the
field of family therapy by providing them the opportunity to expand their knowledge, network with global experts, and contribute to the growth of the field in their home
countries.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Geographic Eligibility: Applicants must be from Tier 2 or Tier 3 countries (as defined by the United Nations Human Development Index or similar development metrics).
- Professional Eligibility: Applicants must be involved in family therapy, social work, psychology, or related fields. This includes students, early-career professionals, or individuals actively engaged in these areas with a commitment to ongoing development.
- Preference for Impact: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate significant community impact, such as working with underserved populations, engaging in advocacy, or contributing to positive social change through family therapy.
- Commitment to Field or Community: Applicants must show a strong commitment to contributing to the family therapy field or their local communities after ttending the IFTA conference. This can be demonstrated through personal statements, references, or examples of previous work.
- Language Proficiency (if applicable): Applicants may need to demonstrate proficiency in English or the primary language used at the IFTA conference, depending on the requirements of the event. This will be clarified in the application guidelines.
2. Scholarship Amount:
The annual fund for the scholarship is 1000 USD. The amount can be used to cover specific costs (registration, accommodation or travel) for one or more persons.
